Ward Elementary School - PTA Website

Welcome to the Ward PTA website!

We hope that you find it a usefulway to stay in touch with all that goes on in the Wonderful World of Ward!

Our members work hard to ensure that each child receives the best education possible.  Through fundraising, the PTA is able to offset the cost of educational trips and provide enrichment to the student body.  Please consider joining the PTA and volunteering your time and talents to our school.

Ward School Donates Books

Ward School students, who are children of Book Fair Committee members, deliver books to Sound Shore Medical Center. L to R – Peyton Keegan, Jordyn Keegan, Isabelle Balachandran, Claudia Goncalves, Nicholas Mezzaucella and Rowan Balachandran – shown with Drs. Margaret Levitt and Daniel Pomerantz

Recently, Sound Shore Medical Center’s (SSMC) Outpatient Pediatric Department was the recipient of the caring of William B. Ward Elementary School students and their parents.

As the Ward School Book Fair committee members considered their semi-annual event, they decided to expand their efforts to include the collection of new and gently used books for donation. This would support literature and the love of reading, while sharing children’s books within the New Rochelle community. Since one of the members knew of Sound Shore Medical Center’s Outpatient Pediatric Department and its long-time commitment to the national Reach Out & Read Project, it was chosen as one of the recipients to receive a donation of books.

After collecting more than 500 books, the Book Fair Committee members along with their children delivered 300 to Sound Shore Medical Center. The Director of SSMC’s Outpatient Pediatric Department, Daniel Pomerantz, MD, MPH, FACP and pediatrician and coordinator of SSMC’s Reach Out & Read Project, Margaret Levitt, MD, graciously accepted the books. They thanked the children for their caring and the pleasure their gift would bring to so many.

This is a heartwarming example of bringing two lessons together into one – the importance of reading and the joy of giving. The children at Ward School and the young patients at SSMC’s Pediatric Clinic were both winners in this Ward School community project.

  Box Tops for Education

Box Tops for Education is back at Ward School!  We all shop for groceries, sometimes two or three times a week.  Now turn those shopping trips into easy cash for our school.  Just look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of products like, Cheerios, Fruit Roll-Ups and Kleenex.  All you need to do is clip, bag in groups of 10 or 50 and send them to school – each one is worth 10 cents for our school!  We just sent in $700 worth that was left from last year.  Let’s try to earn $1,000 or more this year.
